PROGRESS/HELP IN JOSHIMATH
1)Authorities are prioritizing the prevention of loss of lives. They are relocating people to safe houses and relief camps to protect them from any disaster. 2)The Chief Minister’s office has made an announcement to release a Rs.45 crore rehabilitation package for crisis on the land of Joshimath.
3)Also, chief minister took the camp in the town and made arrangements for those displayed due to land subsidence.
OTHER TOWN AFFECTED WITH SAME CRISIS:-
Several other towns—like Karanprayag, Rishikesh, Haldwani, Mussoorie, and Nainital—are facing issues similar to those in Joshimath. If we ignore the warning signs today, land subsidence could soon affect many more towns.
Steps taken to improve the condition:-
1) Mahesh Chandra Mishra of Garhwal Mandal issued a report on May 7, 1976, warning that Joshimath would sink if heavy construction continued. Authorities ignored the warning, and today the disaster stands before us.
2) We should focus on sustainable development not aggressive unplanned development.
